Calorie Pal Privacy Policy

Nevronus Systems is the data controller for Calorie Pal, a nutrition app for meal logging, calorie and macro estimates (including AI photo estimates), weight tracking, BMI and diet plan suggestions. Contact: info@nevronus.com.
1. Information we collect
- Account: if you sign in with Google — email, display name, profile photo URL and Google user ID.
- Health & profile: sex, date of birth, height, current and target weight, activity level, goal, diet plan and calorie/macro targets. BMI is calculated from height and weight.
- Food & activity logs: meals, portions, nutrition data, timestamps, notes, AI-detected foods, custom foods and weight/progress entries.
- Photos: meal and optional progress photos are stored only on your device.
- Purchases: subscription status. Payments are processed by the app store; we never receive card details.
- Device & usage: usage events, performance and crash data, and a push notification token.
We do not knowingly collect precise location or contacts.
2. How we use it
To provide the app’s features, sync across your signed-in devices, run AI estimates when you choose to scan, manage subscriptions, diagnose crashes, send notifications you enable, prevent fraud and meet legal obligations. For EEA/UK users our legal bases are contract, consent, legitimate interest and legal obligation.
We show no third-party ads and do not sell personal information.
3. Sharing
- Google Firebase — sign-in, cloud sync (Firestore), analytics, crash reports, notifications, remote configuration.
- Google Gemini API — analyses a food photo only when you choose to scan it.
- RevenueCat — subscriptions and receipt validation.
- Google Play / Apple App Store — payments.
We may disclose data if required by law, to protect safety or in a business transfer. Providers may process data outside your country (including the US) under safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
4. Photos and AI scanning
Photos are saved in a “CaloriePal” folder on your device and removed when you delete the item or uninstall the app. When you scan a photo it is sent to Google’s Gemini API to estimate nutrition. We do not use your photos to train our own models and do not keep scanned images on our servers.
5. Retention and deletion
Account and log data are kept while your account is active. Delete everything from Settings → Delete Account or see Account & Data Deletion. Some records may be kept briefly for legal, security or fraud-prevention reasons and then deleted or anonymised.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live you may access, correct, delete or export your data, object to or restrict processing and withdraw consent. EEA/UK users may complain to a data protection authority. California residents have the rights to know, delete, correct and opt out — we do not sell or share personal information.
7. Security
HTTPS/TLS encryption, authenticated access and server-side rules that limit each user to their own data. No system is 100% secure.
8. Health disclaimer
Calorie, macro, BMI and diet estimates are general wellness information, not medical advice.
9. Children
Not directed at children under 13 (16 in parts of the EEA).
10. Changes
Material changes will be announced in the app.
